In history we are looking at changes in toys through time. To help us understand how toys have changed we explored a box of Victorian toys borrowed from the Discovery Museum in Newcastle.  Most of the toys were from that period, with some replicas. Parents and grandparents were invited into class to explore and talk about the toys with the children. The children were able to play with most of the toys, which they thoroughly enjoyed doing. Some toys were tricky – like the hoop and stick, while others were simple to use but fascinating, like the dancing clown and the zoetrope animation toy. Thank you to all of the parents who joined us – you helped the children to have an invaluable hands-on experience of historic artefacts.
